FAIRCHILD Share Album Title Track ‘So Long And Thank You’
Gold Coast six-piece to release their debut album, So Long And Thank You, this summer.
So Long And Thank You, the title track off of FAIRCHILD’s upcoming album, is a slow build of a song, moving towards a climactic conclusion. The song is a strong teaser for the upcoming record, introducing the band’s vision without the gimmicks of many other hit singles.
Synthy beats open the song, quickly joined by deep, haunting vocals and the immense layering sounds, perfect for a live setting. The guitar solo towards the end is a triumph, providing an excellent transition into final verse. This is sure to be a song that continues to grow on fans the more they listen.
The single was written shortly after guitarist Tim Voeten lost his father, and he explains:
‘So Long And Thank You’ was written in different sections, by different members of the band, but with the same person in mind—my father. When I hear this song, of course I think about my Dad, but I also remember that it helped cement in me my love for making music with these people. During those long nights in the studio, I knew it was okay to not be okay. I’d show up with some half-baked idea and we’d have a few drinks and mess around with it. I never knew one of those half-baked ideas would become So Long and Thank You. There isn’t a single sound on this record that can’t simply be put down to enjoying writing music with your friends.
So Long And Thank You is set to be released August 4th via the band’s own label, Canvas Sounds.
