KING NUN Dazzle with New Track ‘Chinese Medicine’

King Nun show us that summer is well underway with their bouncy new track Chinese Medicine.

The quartet has made a bombastic return with their newest track, Chinese Medicine.

The single is the first release to be lifted from King Nun‘s forthcoming debut EP, and it hints the direction the band might take with their new music. One direction that it is definitely going in is up, as they take their sound to visceral new heights.

Opening with a funk-infused bassline, the combination of this with percussive sounds will make you tap your toes to the beat as the infectious melody takes over your surroundings. The addition of the guitar merely adds to the texture and complements the bassline melody, breezing through the instrumental introduction. However, the guitars do become more pronounced and prominent in the chorus, as high guitars pierce through the texture, working to draw out the passion of the vocals. Narrative lyricism dominates the verses, and you can also imagine the scene in your head as vocalist Theo Polyzoides describes “I crossed the street where / An old man smashed his head / On the curb but he lived”. The track shows a more exuberant and youthful side to the band, and as they finish the track with “Thank God / Thank love / Thank Chinese Medicine for that”, we want to thank King Nun for such a delightful track.

Catch the band on tour later this year.
