I PREVAIL Announce New Album ‘Trauma’

Metalcore formation I Prevail have released two new singles Bow Down and Breaking Down, lifted from their new album, Trauma, to be released on March 29th.

After going through some recent hardships as a band, including a debilitating vocal injury for Brian Burkheiser and the resulting stress and anxiety, I Prevail have decided to continue their journey and spent 10 months in the studio to record their newest record without outside input.

For Bow Down, Burkheiser, who provides the clean vocals for I Prevail, can be heard on the chorus and it’s apparent that he’s made a full recovery. In contrast to some recent developments in the metalcore genre, I Prevail have decided to go heavier instead of softer on this track, and presumably on the whole album. The video highlights the power that artists’ labels have over them and how I Prevail is trying to counter that.

The video for Breaking Down has a similarly glitchy style. Both the lyrics and visuals focus on depression, specifically in young men. “I guess I never noticed, how it came creepin in” second vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe screams. The ending of the video even contains a personal message from Brian Burkheiser, saying he struggles with depression every day.

Everything seems to point to the fact that Trauma will be the most personal I Prevail album yet and we’re excited to see what they’ll bring. And we will be sure to catch them at Download Festival this year.

The band has also announced a string of UK headline shows this June, with support from Palisades.
