THE GURU GURU Release Video for New Single ‘Mache’
The Belgian band is set to release their sophomore album Point Fingers in January 2020.
After starting in 2012 as a college project, The Guru Guru have slowly been making their way into the European music scene. Focusing mostly on noise rock with some influences from rap and indie, the band has been associated with acts such as Deerhoof, Brutus and Kapitan Korsakov and shared the stage with many of these.
Listening to Mache is a chaotic experience, but this is the kind of madness we’ve come to expect of The Guru Guru. Vocalist Tom has said of the track:
Racing thoughts can lead to stress and anxiety but there is always escapism, arts, useless matters to channel them. The chorus is sung as a tribute to romance and my relation with it. The song needed a rap about life and I wanted it to be sincere, like real rap.
The band have ArcTanGent, Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter in the past and are set to play showcase festival Eurosonic (ESNS) in The Netherlands in 2020, alongside acts like Thumper and Bad Nerves.
