Live: POND // Electric Brixton, London

Psych rock quintet Pond from Down Under delivered a sensational performance at the Electric Brixton last week.

POND - Electric Brixton London - GIG GOER 2019

Another week, another Western Australian psychedelic rock band. This time we are graced by the effervescent Pond, who are anything but damp as they flood the South London venue with their mind-melting songs. Since their formation in 2008, they have been incredibly busy, having released eight studio albums with a ninth on the way while their most recent, Tasmania, is only 8 months old.

It seems frontman Nick Allbrook can barely contain himself, dancing, jumping, and kicking about throughout the set, which featured Sweep Me Off My Feet, Fire in the Water, and Paint Me Silver. While the whole set is a stream of steady hits, it’s the encore, which starts with Giant Tortoise and is finished off with Man It Feels Like Space Again, that really shines, as the band jam out fully and the crowdsurfers make their appearance.

Pond might still be waiting, but after tonight’s show, consider us swept off our feet.
