OCEAN GROVE Brighten Things up With ‘Sunny’
Embracing the poppier side of nu metal, Melbourne’s Ocean Grove have brought us crashing back into the noughties with their latest single Sunny.
It’s easy to get hooked in the Oddworld vision of Ocean Grove’s new single from the very opening strums and raspy-yet-clear vocals of frontman Dale Tanner. Even without a visual, the upbeat riffs that carry Sunny evoke the very happy, fast-paced, ‘yellow’ feelings the word describes, even if the lyrics paint a bit of a different picture. It’s a good reminder to go outside every once in a while.
Speaking on the video, Dale Tanner said:
Sunny takes the viewer on the ultimate ’trip’ into the warped and hyper reality of the Oddworld. where the band pivot between lucid imagination and a dreary reality inside the four walls. We packed in as many references and metaphors as we could, including some that relate directly to our upcoming album ‘ Flip Phone Fantasy ‘ and its artwork.
Ocean Grove’s upcoming album, Flip Phone Fantasy, is due out in Spring 2020 via UNFD. Catch them on tour across Australia with The Amity Affliction and Europe with Crossfaith in the coming months.
