Live: APRE // Scala, London
Showing us that it only takes two to tango, APRE stormed Scala on Thursday night with a captivating set.
The alt-pop duo, who met at a local chess club have come a long way. Having toured with Sam Fender, Friendly Fires, Inhaler, and LANY, Charlie Brown and Jules Konieczny aka APRE took to the stage at London’s Scala to demonstrate they can hold their own in a headline show.
Their latest single, Your Heart’s Like A Jungle, opened the set with a bang. Following their newest release, APRE took us on a journey through some of their biggest tracks such as All Yours and Everybody Loves You.
The duo powered through an energetic and captivating set which will be sure to carve out their place in the everchanging alt-pop scene.
The setlist structure was definitely in contrast to a typical structure that applies to a live show. APRE decided to pepper the set with their biggest and most well-known tracks throughout, rather than save them for the end of the show. It made for a high energy set, with the duo not giving the crowd any time to catch their breath between tracks, but there were definitely no complaints.
Closing out with Dreamworld from their 2019 EP, The Guns Down, it was a fitting end to the show with lyrics reminiscent of political dissatisfaction.
APRE are unquestionably coming into their own, building a fanbase left, right and centre. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
