5 SECONDS OF SUMMER Release Video For ‘Old Me’

Enhancing the already chilled out, sentimental track, 5 Seconds Of Summer provide a romantically nostalgic look back at their lives with the Old Me music video.

5SOS Old Me video 2020With the latest release from their upcoming album, CALM, 5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS) take their sound down a notch but up the sentimentality ten-fold. It is an anthem about tenacity, encouraging the listener and themselves to keep pushing along even in the face of adversity and to ignore the haters.

It’s challenging to not feel your heart swell with pride for the 5SOS lads while watching the video for Old Me. The video starts by boarding a Sydney S Train, which is used to represent the journey from cheeky adolescents to global superstars in young adulthood. At every stop along the way, the doors open to another flashback or memory, some using real video footage and others are recreations using young actors that uncannily resemble band members Calum, Ashton, Luke, and Michael. We see them grow from young friends goofing around to the final stop on their journey thus far – sold-out stadiums around the globe. Scattered throughout are Easter eggs showing how 5SOS ended up at that final scene, including a nod at One Direction who took them on tour in 2013. New fans or lifelong members of the 5SOS Fam, Old Me will tug at the heartstrings.

Speaking of the track, lead vocalist Luke Hemmings said:

‘Old Me’ carries a youthful spirit and follows the narrative of a young person’s life growing up, for better or for worse. Every decision we made, whether right or wrong, has led us to the men we are proud to be today. We were thrown into the public eye at a young age and gratefully had each other at a confusing time. Sometimes it’s important we look back in order to appreciate the journey we’ve been on together.

CALM drops March 27th via Polydor Records.
