WALLOWS Share Humorous Video for ‘OK’
If the video had to be described in one word, the word would be ‘chaos’. Featuring what is potentially the most disorderly drive-through order, flying cars, and parachuting to a party, the video for OK is anything but OK with its inventive narrative.
Indie trio Wallows follow up their recent release OK with an entertaining music video to match. Taking you on a fantastical, 90s nostalgia trip, the surreality of the music video takes you away from the madness of real life into a realm of being young, having fun, and all of the inevitable (but humorous) chaos that ensues. The video follows the band as they try to make their way to a party, but being intercepted in their journey with silent discos in a car park, a dawning realisation that no one is driving the car that the band are travelling in, resulting in a catastrophe that the band parachutes away from. It provides a much-needed, lighthearted escape and you’ll feel at least OK after watching the video, if nothing more optimistic.
The band shares the meaning behind the song, explaining:
‘OK’ is a song about insecurities in a relationship; having a hard time accepting something that feels “too good to be true”, but overall learning to embrace it and accept the love you’re receiving and focusing on returning it. Now, given the state of the world and the health crisis we happen to be in at the time of the song’s release, we feel like the main line/hook of the song, “Can we get up and try to feel okay again?”, sort of takes on a new meaning/purpose itself for people at this moment in time. The thought that no matter where we are or how alone/lost we feel right now, we can get up again and try to feel OK. We’re in it together.
