NECK DEEP Share Fan-Contributed Video for ‘When You Know’
Bringing the light-infused melodies in times of crisis, Neck Deep remind you of the better times and provide an escapism with When You Know.
Pop-punk quintet Neck Deep return with yet another infectious track with When You Know. The newest single is lifted off their upcoming album All Distortions Are Intentional, set to be released on July 24th on Hopeless Records. Searing guitars and hooking vocals create the fail-safe recipe for the band’s signature stuck-in-your-head tunes, especially when the anthemic chorus swings around. It’s a dose of serotonin in musical form, and despite the pop-punk genre veering close to being overly cheesy in general, the newest Neck Deep track manages to balance it with sincere lyricism to add another feel-good song to their catalogue.
Although the current COVID-19 situation derailed the band’s original plan for the accompanying music video, they quickly enlisted the help of fans to create a wonderfully intimate video that will fill your heart with warmth. Explaining more of the meaning behind the track, singer Ben Barlow shares:
‘When You Know’ is about realising you’re in love. The old saying “when you know, you know” was in my mind with this one.
In the timeline of ‘All Distortions Are Intentional’ this is where Jett realises, after a wild night out, and another night talking about how they see the world and realising they share similar feelings, that he is in love with Alice. The mutual feeling of not belonging, the difficulties of their day to day lives and battling their inner insecurities, yet now having each other to ease the pain and giving a sense of purpose is the key take-away from this song. It’s a pretty straight up summer love song, but one that’s mega catchy and feel good – a stark contrast to some of the more emotionally heavy songs on the record.
