Capturing the feeling of confusion and uncertainty that accompanies a newly born romance, Lo Lauren shapes a unique, minimal soundscape in Just Friends. Iventive in its simplicity, the track oscillates between the stripped back verses and spoken word, with a progressive vocoder chorus that adds vibrancy to the emotive story. Tackling the age old ‘are we just friends?’ question, Just Friends is an intriguing slow-burner that offers a fresh view on the arcana of modern production and introduces Lo Lauren as an exciting new name to keep an eye on.

Speaking of the new track, Lo Lauren shares:

It’s very stripped back, and it allows me space to grow, both vocally and in production. It’s a pretty clear concept – it’s very literal.

Stepping away from traditional music videos, Just Friends gets a visual treatment in the form of a spoken word monologue. Discussing the concept, Lo Lauren explains:

Theatre is deep-rooted in me, and I love performance on every level, so I want to do something bold for every song. Having a monologue as your opening statement as an artist is something unique. I love analysing language and exploring how everyone can interpret things differently.
