Bottled Up have shared their roaring new anthem Kilo.

Bottled Up 2020

As part of promotion for their new album titled Crystal that will be released in October, Bottled Up have given fans a taste of what’s to come with new song Kilo. It’s centred around how we as people cover up our emotions to fit into society and how they manifest. The track is a mix of old school rock and punk. The deep and eerie vocals of Nikhil Rao command from the first second but the guitars and drums don’t sink into the background, creating a song that screams to be listened to and one that instantly takes hold of the room. Bottled Up is what would happen if Fontaines D.C. made a band with Fatherson. It’s energetic, dramatic and demanding.

Speaking on the song, frontman Nikhil Rao shares:

‘Kilo’ is about the masks we wear to blend in with the rest of the world, and the inner struggle we endure to hide our emotions as they bubble to the surface. When we were writing the instrumentals and vocals for ‘Kilo’, I was guiding the guitar work to sound like a lost Devo or Suburban Lawns song with angular twists and turns that drift into breaths of fresh flowing air. As we kept building on this song, a sort of Krautrock vibe emerged and it became more hypnotic. I started to embrace that direction by adding gusts of synths to the mix to accentuate the movement and energy through the track. There’s so much music out there, and I love how the band can take genres like Post Punk or Krautrock, and flip them into something fresh and new.
