CREEPER Unveil New Single ‘Poisoned Heart’
Sharing a last hint of what is to come before the grand reveal of their forthcoming sophomore album, Creeper deviate from expectations yet again with Poisoned Heart.
Creeper have always had a flair for the dramatic, and their latest single Poisoned Heart sees them continuing to pursue this quirk as it lyrically unveils a plot of forbidden love. The track offers a glimpse into the mystical world of the band’s forthcoming second album, Sex, Death & The Infinite Void, which is set to be released on July 31st. It follows the album’s protagonist Roe as he declares his love to an already-betrothed Annabelle, and as one may expect from such a climatic plot, the accompanying music is grandiose and sweeping in nature with velvety baritone vocals and expansive guitar harmonies.
Speaking more about the track, vocalist Will Gould elaborates:
This song was the first we had written where we’d experimented with a baritone lead vocal. Inspired by Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave I attempted to sing in a way I had not before, combining this with a country sensibility we had established via a piano and acoustic guitar. Lyrically this song sits in the second act of our narrative, our protagonist is realising what it is to feel for the first time.
Further bringing their fictional world into life, the band has also shared their personal experience and the story behind the making of their sophomore album via the podcast series ‘The Story of… Sex, Death & The Infinite Void’. The band will also host the first ever ‘CREEPER CON’ via their YouTube channel to align with the album release, featuring live interviews and footage from past shows.
