An exciting new addition to the Scottish indie/alternative scene, Alex Amor is sure to charm you with her laid back sound.

Alex Amor 2020

23-year-old Glaswegian Alex Amor is ready to take the musical world in her stride as she makes her introduction with debut single The Part With Each Other. A lilting, laid back single, it creates a warm cocoon of sound as tinkering tuned percussion and reverberating beats echo around her striking vocals. With airy vocal harmonies providing further backing in the chorus, she builds a visceral and all-encapsulating sound that plunged you straight into her creative universe.

Divulging more about the track, Alex says:

‘The Part With Each Other’ is about a moment in time: On the cusp of falling in love but resisting it’s pull. Hoping to feel nothing to avoid pain but ending up with rose tinted glasses.

The single is the beginning of a prolonged launch for the artist, who will be sharing her debut EP Love Language soon in November. Reflecting upon the journey of creating the EP, Alex muses:

This EP reflects a recent time of my life where I am a woman struggling for autonomy. I’m moving into adulthood and I’m desperately trying to make sense of its complexities. Though there’s no happy resolve at the end of the EP, I feel more self-assured than ever, more me than I’ve ever been. Naturally evolving, my ethos remains the same: to stay true to my intuition and try my best every day.

The EP title, ‘Love Language’, is a reference to Gary Chapman’s book ‘The Five Love Languages’ which expands on the 5 different ways humans show affection in a relationship. The title track is about a relationship that fails to align in that way. Opposites can sometimes attract but in this case, they repel. I am obsessed with paradox and juxtaposition – calm and chaos, dark and light, serious and playful. This EP shows both sides of the coin for me too: my cynicism for love and also succumbing to it despite being cautious to begin with.
