NUALA HONAN Stuns With New Single ‘I’m Alright’
Soothing with sun-drenched guitars and beachy melodies, I’m Alright is the warm new single from Nuala Honan.
Australian musician Nuala Honan offers her first new single since the release of her last album in the form of single I’m Alright. It’s a warm restart that reminds us of the lush soundscapes that Nuala is capable of creating, and it sends you into a woozy daydream as washed-out guitars breeze past your ears. Her sound plucks together a myriad of influences, from hinting at elements of psychedelia, bringing in aspects of beach-pop, and swooning with synths that will charm you and set you into a relaxed state to enjoy her music. Lyrically, it offers an equally healing effect and provides an antidote to your daily worries, as she calmly reminds you that ‘I’m alright’ and you will be too.
Speaking more about the track, she shares:
I haven’t been intentionally writing “covid songs”, but as a confessional songwriter I try to make sense of what is going on in the world and my place in it, so I think it’s only natural I’ve been drawn to something soothing. I wanted to make a companion. A song you can take into your world and put it on repeat – when you’re cleaning the house, when you’re walking around your neighbourhood, when you’re having a cup of tea with your friend.
The ending of the song, this repetitive mantra, ‘I’m alright’, and the wavy melody, is for the listener to pause, to dream, and go where you need to go. To accept where you’re at, and that is enough, and you are alright, and have the courage to create a vision of where you want to go, and what is the next right thing to do.
