MEYRU Share Pleasing Single ‘Off White’
On a bed of grainy guitars, sublime vocals soothe the ears before delicately tinkling piano notes play out in this sonically eclectic indie rock hit.
Based in New York, Meyru are an indie pop band renowned for the infectious energy that they bring to their live shows. For the last two years, Meyru have been writing music and touring their sound across the US, with a number of sold-out shows in their home New York City, as well as San Francisco, Atlanta, DC and Charlotte. Letting their presence be known in 2022, the New Yorkers return with refreshing new music, which is already increasing anticipation for their upcoming second record. Their previous single I’d Ask…But I Know You’re Alright was promoted by Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds: Indie’ playlist, and the band have also been featured by Earmilk, and on Apple Music’s ‘New in Alternative’ and ‘New in Rock’ compilations.
Back in 2019, the indie pop group released their debut, self-recorded album Good to See You and now, they are collaborating with producer/engineer Sam Skinner and the band’s long-time collaborator and Brooklyn-based producer, Cal Maro, on their upcoming sophomore album.
Combining reminiscence and renewed perspective in the song’s lyricism and arrangement, Meyru’s latest single Off White epitomises feelings of detachment. Reflecting the song’s title and themes of disconnection, the accompanying music video consists of Meyru passionately and individually playing their respective instruments in an off-white studio, as the pensive frontman stuns with his heavenly vocals.
Contrastingly more acoustic and stripped down than their debut album, Meyru’s forthcoming record will not only showcase their strong ‘90s influences, but it will also exemplify the band’s joy of live recording and performing. With the second album in the midst of being refined, stay tuned for more Meyru music on the way.
