The Predictability of the Mercury Shortlist 2017
The Mercury Shortlist is here, and though it features the grands of British music, the list is dully predictable.

Sporting names such as Ed Sheeran, Alt-J, Stormzy and The XX the list still is blissfully ignorant of the forefront of the exciting new music that is blooming in the UK at the moment. Though there seems to be no such thing as a standard Mercury winner, the list this year seems to play it on the safe side and by this ignoring more visionary and ground-breaking work.
