The return of THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS
Good morning world! I’ve got some good music coming your way on this gloomy Monday.
However, not much of a news. I think everyone knows what’s going on by now. And who’s coming back.
Yes, they’re back.
The Last Shadow Puppets have returned making [give or take] 99,98% of reasons why 2016 will be pretty cool.
They have announced the second album, they have released a new music video, they will be rocking some summer festivals and now they are heading back on the road including a few stops across the UK.
For those of you who have no idea about these two guys [I can’t believe that I need to make this introduction] The Last Shadow Puppets are a duo consisting of Miles Kane and Arctic Monkeys’ very own frontman Alex Turner. Basically, great things happen when one genius meets another genius.
The second album Everything You’ve Come To Expect, the follow-up to The Age of Understatement (2008), is set for release on April 1 but it’s no joke. Hopefully.
In an exclusive cover story for NME The Last Shadow Puppets have made a few comments about the forthcoming album:
I think the last record ended up being just one thing – Alex Turner said. We talked about Scott Walker a lot and our record became perceived as a homage to that sound. This one, in my head, doesn’t wear its influences on its sleeve as much as the first one did. We were definitely listening to a bit of Isaac Hayes this time, but it was less of a big deal.
At that time [of the first album], all that stuff was new to us – Miles Kane added. We were discovering it for the first time. This time, it was just songs that we were buzzing off that we were inspired by.
As for being back together in the studio It’s like John Lennon meets… Paul [McCartney] Turner summed up.
Earlier in January the duo released the music video for the track Bad Habits which you can watch below. Talking to NME Kane stated the song as the favourite track on the record and the one that stands out as being the most unique.
Everything You’ve Come To Expect was recorded at Shangri La Studio in Malibu and the tracklist is as follows:
