ITOLDYOUIWOULDEATYOU Release Video for ‘Almost Zero’

itoldyouiwouldeatyou are known for their experimental indie-punk and this song is no different. The instrumentals are all over the place and don’t follow a straight path, giving a chaotic impression. This fits the theme, as the song was inspired by a short story written by Putin advisor Vladislav Surkov. Surkov often criticizes the political administration he is a part of and thereby taunts its victims. The lyrics reference the point that the Russian populace, as the band puts it, “have lost their vocabulary for things like colours” because they are so desensitised. As singer Joey Ashworth puts it:

Everything is either war or not war for them. I think most of us could see how that relates not only to the people of Russia, but more and more to the people of the West, also.

Almost Zero’s music video also seems to have lost its colour. The video, the concept of which is the band driving around in their car, is lit by nothing but headlights from cars driving by and was made without the used of a stabilizer. You can judge the end result for yourself below. ITYIWEY are touring throughout the UK in February, supporting Queen Zee.
