YONAKA Announce Debut Album ‘Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow’
The Brighton rockers have unleashed a new track titled Bad Company.
Yonaka had a busy 2018. With a successful festival run, including Reading & Leeds and All Points East, and a support slot on Bring Me The Horizon’s UK and European tour, the band has widely broadened their reach and geared themselves up for a busy 2019.
With the announcement of their debut album, Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow, to be released on May 31st through Asylum Records, Yonaka have also released a new single named Bad Company. The sound is like as if Marina Diamandis decided to join a rock band instead of singing indie pop, including the personal lyrics, dealing with mental health. This seems to be a theme across the whole album, or as Theresa Jarvis, the actual, gifted frontwoman of Yonaka puts it:
The writing process for the DWTT has been a cathartic one. We self-produced the entire LP, which features nine news songs and 3 already released, including the second track we ever wrote – “Awake”. The album’s title ‘Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow’ is a message about reaching out to someone, picking up the phone and making a call; it’s about knowing it’s ok to not be ok. The title track is a personal favourite of mine. We can’t wait to release the album and we hope it resonates with our fans as much as it does with us.
