Dual Citizen tackles technological modernity in his electro-tinged alt-rock track Black Mirrors.

Dual Citizen is the project of Bay Area, CA musician Jason Heninger. Incorporating electro-pop elements into his alt-rock blend, Heninger creates music that bursts with both indie urgency and pop subtlety. In his latest offering, Black Mirrors, the bluesy guitars and funky bass grooves contrast well with the falsetto vocals, underpinned with sleek pop leaning production. With an R&B flavour added to the mix, the track feels laid-back yet expansive, juxtaposing relaxed sonics with thought-provoking lyrics that explore the relation between humans and technology.

Speaking on the new single, Dual Citizen shares:

‘Black Mirrors’ is a reflection on modern society in the way that we allow screens and algorithms to take control of our psyche. Our attention spans are swiftly decreasing, our beliefs are becoming progressively more extreme, and our attempt to become more “connected” through technology is doing the exact opposite. Are we losing our brains?
