Following the release of his 2020 debut EP with u in mind., will hyde triumphs with the coming-of-age new single boy.
Chronicling Will’s personal growth, boy. is a poignant reminder of the passing time. With a raw quality to the sound, the track shimmers with stripped-down instrumentation and Will’s tender vocals that underline the intimate introspective fragility of his songwriting style. Speaking on the new single, Will reveals:
The premise of the song is around accepting change as a good thing. Forgiving yourself for changing. When I was younger I was surrounded by people at that particular time who seemed to resist any attempts I made to change myself – from the way I looked, to the views I had on life. Maturing and growing up can be scary but embracing the human you are becoming makes it a lot easier to be at peace with.
‘boy.’ is an ode to the inevitable fact that I will forever be changing and learning things as a human on this earth. So why not start accepting the person I am now in the present?
