Having collaborated with Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens and released their album Loveless I earlier this year, the band set the bar high. Speaking on the new single, Julian Comeau explains:
‘sorry i’m a downer’ came to me almost immediately, the entire song was written and recorded in a week after I’d already completed about 20 prospective demos for the next record. Once I had the hook, I knew it had to be the next single. It tells the story of struggling with your mental health and trying to find a silver lining when everything feels out of your control, it truly felt like the quintessential quarantine song. We’ve all felt the effects of isolation and clawing your way out of that hole on your own can be far more daunting than we realize.
