Having found an escape and a tool for understanding his identity with music, Sydney’s Harley Alaska had kept his craft close to his heart for a while – an unsurprising choice given the vulnerabilities and anxieties which surfaced within. Initially creating from his home, the coziness has carried across to help him shape his bedroom-pop sound, and coupled with his unfiltered songwriting, the result is a deeply moving cut that you’ll still want to have a jam to.

Starting off with plucked strings and bruising vocals, it’s a very vulnerable start that invites you to let down your guards and similarly confide within the music. Harley’s style of songwriting is deeply personal and treats you as if you’re his closest acquaintance; it doesn’t hide anything from you and lets you in on thoughts that would normally remain unspoken. In this way, it creates a special feeling and connection with the music, and aided by the fluttering electronics, you feel as if you are a part of something unforgettable.

The inspiration for the track arose from a deeply sensitive area, as Harley explains:

When my last relationship ended I really had to re-find the person who I was…or wanted to be. My identity was so wound up in somebody else that I was really lost for a while. When you’re young it’s especially tough… you don’t really have a solid idea of who you are in the first place.
