PALE HONEY New Song Review // “Real Thing”
Gothenburg girls PALE HONEY emerge with new single, Real Thing, and it is intriguing.

With the band line up known from Deap Valley, The White Stripes and Honeyblood, Pale Honey still manage to bring forth new sounds to the duo-format. Their hard-hitting indie rock, loaded with the soft tension of Tuva Lodmark‘s vocals, can spark anyone’s inner badass. Along the guitar and drum core, Pale Honey branche out experimenting with electronics as well as percussion.
Giving the vibes of the early PJ Harvey, Pale Honey aren’t doing too bad musically. However, Real Thing can, in spite of all its attitude and melodic punch, feel a bit too much like you’ve heard it before.
According to the honeys themselves,
“Real Thing” is what happened when we blew our minds. It’s all about knowing what you want and that you’re going to get it. For us it’s courage and confidence packed and pressed into one song. We finished it up in the studio during the Swedish summer with clear visions what it was going to end up in – The Real Thing.
Recorded in Nacksving Studios in Gothenburg together with the producer Anders Lagerfors, Real Thing is a well-balanced song, just nervy and cool enough to work. The distortion and heavy elements lace up with female demand in the vocals what make all together a pretty great track.
The Swedes are set to play The Lexington in London on October 27th, and their, so far untitled, sophomore album is due spring 2017.
