BLAENAVON Unveil Acoustic Version of New Single ‘Orthodox Man’

The band’s debut album to be released this Spring.

The Hampshire trio is soon set to release their anticipated debut album, That’s Your Lot, but in the meantime their serve up an acoustic version of their latest single Orthodox Man.

The originally atmospheric guitar-laid track is now re-done in a much more organic soundscape heavily to revolving around Ben Gregory’s vocals with acoustic guitar and gentle percussion details.

This alternate version is the first track taken from a session recorded in bassist Frank Wright’s bedroom, appropriately called The Bedroom Tapes. That’s Your Lot – The Bedroom Tapes is a limited edition bonus CD, featuring reeditions of all 12 tracks, which comes with initial pre-ordered copies of the album.

The first radio spins of the tapes took place over the weekend at Matt Wilkinson’s Beats 1 show. On the time from being ‘discovered’ to finally announcing their forthcoming debut Gregory comments:

It was important for us to come back with something big and bold and different and fresh. Bands have come and gone, then tried to return, and it hasn’t worked… You’re easily forgotten if what you return with is derivative of what you started with and you haven’t made a change… We’ve never been scared about coming back – we knew we had great tracks and now feels like the right time for people to hear them.

Blaenavon’s debut album, That’s Your Lot, is due to be released on April 7th via Transgressive Records. Frontman explains:

‘That’s Your Lot’ is 5 years of our lives condensed into 59 minutes of yours. Youth, capriciousness, duality, duplicity, love, bitterness, fate. Songs from the human core: some malleable, long considered – others pure, direct, cruelly honest. An album to bathe in and appreciate the inevitable end.

Blaenavon are about to hit the road as support for Sundara Karma and Two Door Cinema Club before embarking on their own headline tour in March.
