LANY have released new music video for the new single WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS.

The first official music video. Finally!

This trio has been doing pretty amazing since the last time I saw them. Dropping new Make Out EP, making sweet music videos and oh yes, touring with Troye Sivan, Ellie Goulding and Halsey. If I’m to mention just a few. Life’s good at the moment, isn’t it?

Their latest offering WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS is another great example of LANY’s “pop-meets-R&B” sound. Catchy synths, electro-pop, 80s vibes and emotionally charged lyrics representing their everlasting tear and yearning for California. Plus, their love for abbreviations and random capitalisation stands out again.

The clip was directed by Nadia Marquard Otzen and it sees Paul Klein (the lead singer of the band) in white going through red and blue sequences. Seeking friends at Cali party he asks himself Am I starting to hate California? Why am I in L.A.? and all he finds is everyone frozen in time. Even when motionless there’s still Forty million in California. No one cares if I stay. Especially, at the end.

There needed to be vibe but not at the expense of narrative – Klein explains. I was insanely lucky to work with Nadia on piecing together a concept that delivered both.

So where the hell are your friends?
