CIRCA WAVES Perform on Main Stage at Leeds Festival 2017

The Liverpool’s quartet took to the Main Stage on Day Two of Leeds Festival.

On the second day of the festival, the main stage slot between a rising star Rat Boy and nostalgic rockers Jimmy Eat World was filled by Circa Waves, indie dreamboats from Liverpool.

Under the blazing sun the band opened their set with Wake Up, a track from their latest album Different Creatures. A good choice, though the crowd was certainly very awake already, thanks Rat Boy! “And so wake up, it’s just a little too late for conversation, / It’s just a bit too much ground for me to make up, / But you’ll give it all that you got now.”

Circa Waves played their older songs too, such as Fossils, Get Away and Stuck In My Teeth, but the fans seemed to be loving the new album so much, it was hard to tell which songs came out months ago, and which ones had been out for years: the crowd was singing them all equally enthusiastically.

Halfway through the set even the hardcore Kasabian fans clearly unfamiliar with Circa Waves, were dancing and cheering. Rightfully so, it’s hard to be indifferent to the explosive Fire That Burns!

“Leeds! What’s the weather like?!”, we heard from frontman Kieran Shudall. Of course, the boys couldn’t leave without playing their most famous piece, T-shirt Weather, the ultimate summer anthem. Straight away, half the crowd got onto each other’s shoulders, and a few circle pits emerged. Not a single person stood still.

There couldn’t have been a better song for one of the final summer days, and as vocalist was repeating that “it’s gonna be okay” and thousands of kids were singing it back, somehow, Circa Waves really made us believe that. “I remember T-shirt weather / I remember some days / We were singing our lungs out / in the backseat together.”
