RAE MORRIS Returns With Affirming Single ‘No Woman Is An Island’

Beginning with a bewitching whisper, this heartfelt track is a powerfully contemporary anthem for anyone feeling overlooked and unappreciated.

Rae Morris

Composing songs since the mere age of seventeen in her native small town by the sea, Rae Morris is a truly-gifted singer-songwriter from the north-west coast of England. Rightfully taking pride in being a woman in music, Rae has thus far released two critically-acclaimed albums Unguarded and Someone Out There, and has recently announced that her third record is on the way.

Having been on hiatus, tackling new motherhood and the general intricacies of modern life, No Woman Is An Island is Rae Morris’ first release since 2018. Inspired by a throwaway comment from her old label, this track profoundly affirms the fact that, universally, women contain multitudes. From a personal perspective, No Woman Is An Island mentally engages with, and unpicks, Rae’s experiences of sexism, particularly in the music industry.

Directed by Noel Paul, the visuals for No Woman Is An Island intimately explore Rae’s hometown of Blackpool, which is evocative of how her birthplace is integral to her raw songwriting.

Rae shares the inspiration behind the track:

Someone at my old label described me as “an island”, because I didn’t go to enough parties or whatever. But really you only share yourself with others if you feel you’re being respected.

Currently supporting Tom Odell on the last dates of his UK tour, Rae has been stunning crowds with her poignant lyricism, and has even teased some new music to lucky crowds. After selling out an intimate show in Laylow, London within minutes, it’s clear to see that Rae’s reappearance is greatly felt and loved by her dedicated listeners – and the best part is that this is just the beginning, with even more magnificent music on the horizon!
