STATIC DRESS Unveil Angsty Single ‘such.a.shame’

Merging punk sonics with the grittiest of guitars, Olli Appleyard’s prominent vocals in this track command the listener with the explicit intensity of a screamo anthem.

Static Dress 2022

Hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire, Static Dress are a British post-hardcore punk band consisting of Oli Appleyard, Connor Reilly, Sam Ogden and Contrast. Formed in 2018, the four-piece have quickly ascended in the alternative scene, particularly in the last year with the release of their exhilarating debut project Prologue… (Comic Book Soundtrack). Embodying the unstoppable anticipation building around the rockers, Static Dress were voted Best New Band Of The Year in 2021 by Kerrang! readers.

Following the recent announcement of their upcoming 12-track debut album Rouge Carpet Disaster, which is due for release on 18th May 2022, Static Dress have revealed such.a.shame, the third single from this forthcoming record. Incorporating second wave emo and shoegaze sensibilities, this emotionally-driven anthem lyrically peels back and bares the band’s soul, through vulnerable lyricism such as “Dying here with open palms / Final thoughts dead in her arms.”

Directed by Static Dress’ own Olli Appleyard, the grainy visuals for such.a.shame epitomise the band’s new aesthetic direction, and the music video’s experimental digital effects, created by Jordan Chappell, expose the dystopian universe they are unveiling with Rouge Carpet Disaster.

Written by Static Dress, produced by Eric Bickerstaffe of Loathe and independently released, the genre-bending album Rouge Carpet Disaster ambitiously transcends emo, electronic, screamo, metal and pop elementsacross its twelve tracks. Not only is the album available to pre-order on vinyl now, but Static Dress will be embarking on their headline UK ‘I Hope You Hate This Tour’ in April. Tickets are on sale now – don’t miss out!
