YOUTH FOUNTAIN Release Video for ‘Helpless/Letters To Our Former Selves’
Canadian pop punkers Youth Fountain have released the opening tracks for their upcoming album Letters To Our Former Selves.
After releasing their debut EP in 2017 and touring throughout the US and Canada, Cody Muraro and Tyler Zanon of the two piece are set to release their debut album, Letters To Our Former Selves, on March 8th through Pure Noise Records. Last week, they unveiled the first video for the album, combining the two opening tracks into one two-and-half-minute visual metaphor.
Youth Fountain‘s sound reminds of bands like The Wonder Years and Seaway; energetic and loud, combining emotional lyrics with strong instrumentals. The lyrics for Helpless/Letters To Our Former Selves represent a yearning for the past, wanting to turn back time and fix things. The video features a woman walking through a forest full of floating window panes. As vocalist Tyler Zanon puts it:
I like to think the symbolism of a ‘window’ is an appropriate representation of looking back on things and having that ability of self-reflection.
The woman in the video is seen setting the window panes on fire. It seems that reflecting on and letting go of the past will be a strong theme for the album and we’re looking forward to hearing more of it.
