STAND ATLANTIC Release Music Video for ‘Toothpick’
The Sydney-based trio share their fourth music video for their debut album Skinny Dipping which was released in October 2018.
Toothpick, the seventh track on Skinny Dipping, is certainly the most melancholic song on the album. Accompanied by only her electric guitar, Bonnie Fraser bares her soul in the most poetic way, ending every verse with “I wish I was just as strong as I make myself out to be.” The choice to use an electric guitar instead of the more straight-forward acoustic one is surprising, but fits the song well and sets it apart from other ballads.
The music video sees Fraser sitting on her bedroom floor surrounded by lavender, a recurring theme on the album. She’s seen in her room during different moments: coming back with a suitcase from travelling, scrolling through her phone on her bed, writing lyrics to the songs. The video is simple, but it works well for a gloomy song like Toothpick. Furthermore this has been the third music video for the album that has been directed by Brandon Lung, Stand Atantic’s resident photographer.
Stand Atlantic are soon embarking on an EU/UK tour, starting in Leeds on March 29th, playing London on April 4th and ending in Paris on April 15th.
