GREEN DAY Release Music Video for ‘Father Of All…’

Following the announcement of the Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer last week, the punk rock pioneers have released a music video for their latest single Father Of All…Motherfuckers.

It has been a crazy week for Green Day. A single release, album announcement, and start of tour sales have given fans all they’d hoped for in the past three years, all in a head-spinning tempo. Father Of All Motherfuckers, or Father Of All… for short, sports recycled album art from American Idiot, alongside a cartoony unicorn, because “nothing says fuck you like a unicorn” according to Billie Joe Armstrong.

The single, featuring Armstrong sounding unusually falsetto for a Green Day song, is about not giving a fuck. As the band states in their YouTube description: “We wanted to make something about dancing, anxiety, tribalism, joy, and straight up violence.” They urge fans to let lose, dance like nobody’s watching and, most of all, “get weird”. The video features several iconic videos of people and animals dancing and celebrating, interchanged with footage of the band rocking out in some fabulous suits.

Dear friends and fuckers. Here’s our new hot dog video we made for father of all…..? Mother fuckers That’s right! A new vid for the kid. (watch on youtube.com/greenday) We wanted to make something about dancing. Anxiety. Tribalism. Joy.. and straight up violence. It’s the history of us. Meaning all of us. None of this is choreographed.. (except the hotties in red) we don’t need to be choreographed… just lose your shit.. scream like no one is listening.. dance like your hair is on fire. punk soul rockers! Crawl on the dance floor.. spit in the air.. get weird.
