Live: ANOTHER SKY // Village Underground, London
London-based quartet Another Sky reached new heights at their Village Underground show this week.
It’s almost a year on from their appearance on BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland, and now with two EPs and the honour of playing Huw Stephen’s final ever Maida Vale session under their belt, the band took to the stage at the East London venue where fans and friends alike eagerly anticipated the captivating performance that was to come.
Often the talking point of any discussion revolving around Another Sky, frontwoman Catrin Vincent’s androgynous voice is the first thing that draws you in, accompanied by a sea of ethereal synths and striking riffs. While new single Capable Of Love made its live debut, we were also treated to the more familiar Chillers, The Cracks, and Apple Tree as well as title track Life Was Coming Through The Blinds off their latest EP, with a solo vocoder intro.
Dark and mysterious, the show truly was a compelling experience in itself, blanketing us with its distinctive charm. It’s one you have to witness to appreciate, and it’s only a matter of time before we’re under the musical clouds of Another Sky again.
