Live: COLD WAR KIDS // First Avenue, Minneapolis, MN
Cold War Kids returned to historic First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN last Friday for yet another stunning performance.
Listed on the First Avenue website as their 6th performance in the venue, and with the band remarking on the countless times they’ve played in the state, the sold-out space was unsurprisingly filled to the brim with longtime fans.
Cold War Kids played newer songs from their seventh studio album New Age Norms 1, which was released in November 2019. Older tunes like Hang Me Up To Dry re-energized the crowd in the middle of the set and was amazing to hear in a live setting. Their high energy and erratic movements made for an engaging performance. Backlighting and fog added to their darker bass lines and lead singer Nathan Willett’s voice carried across the club, cutting through chatter and distraction.
By the end of the night the crowd was completely enthralled, which made the final song of the regular set First hit especially hard. After returning to the stage for two more songs, Cold War Kids graciously made their exit after a show well done.
Their US tour continues through February, and you can find more dates here.
