Following the release of his groovy collaboration Cigars, with Brighton-based rapper Jarki Monno and UK producer edbl, and his sophomore single She Doesn’t Love Me, Alfie returns with his third single I Don’t Wanna Dance featuring the incredible rapper Isaiah Dreads. Complete with a charming lyric video on YouTube, I Don’t Wanna Dance is an exceptional example of Alfie’s lyrical genius and embodies both Alfie and Isaiah’s organic exuberance. Without a doubt, this funky single is the type of song which will evoke pure joy in the listener, especially when performed live.
Alfie shares:
‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’ is about visiting your hometown and old friends and wishing you could pick up where you left off again, instead of dancing on the chequered late-night pub dance floor. Just standing in the corner of the room and observing what’s going on. I wrote most of the song staying late at work when I was in-between tenancies—my boss let me set up a little studio in a room and I’d stay writing every day until the parking restrictions in Brighton ran out and I could drive back there.
Isaiah came to my new flat once we’d moved in after I bumped into him on the street in Brighton, which was a funny coincidence—we both grew up in the same town in Dorset and moved to Brighton without even knowing each other lived here, so the tune really feels like it was meant to be written.
Set for release on 25th February 2022, Alfie’s forthcoming debut EP is called everywhere/nowhere and was co-produced with Ivor Novello-Award winning producer Cassell The Beatmaker. I Don’t Wanna Dance feat. Isaiah Dreads is the lead single from the project and what an incredible taster of Alfie’s upcoming sound it is!
