Emerging alt-pop artist OAKLND is renowned for blending indie The 1975-esque sensibilities with hazy synth pop which is reminiscent of LANY’s sound. Supported by industry critics such as EARMILK, CLASH, BBC Introducing and Tenement TV, OAKLND undoubtedly captivates both notable tastemakers and devoted listeners alike.

Following the release of his first 2021 single Paris, OAKLND returns with a second single entitled STRANGERS which consists of euphoric pop melodies and stunningly engaging vocals. With production by Gabriel Eli, this track balances lyrical vulnerability with upliftingly vibrant hooks.

Speaking on the vision for the single, OAKLND states:

I’ve found it really difficult to find a producer who’s genuinely on the same wavelength as me and really grasps where I want some of these tracks to go, but as soon as I heard Gabe’s solo stuff I thought he’d be a really good match. We talked about the arrangement for this quite a lot in the production and it felt like a really important moment cause the track in this form tells the story I wanted it to tell.

OAKLND describes his track as lyrically “kind of devastating but with a hopeful realisation to it” and this duality of emotion is perhaps why it’s so resonant.
