The band is back with first tease on their new album Rock and Roll Bye Bye.

The New York outfit finally announces the follow up to their brilliant debut, Manhattan, with sophomore album, Rock and Roll Bye Bye, and gives us a first taste in the form of album-closer In Your Head.

The tune opens strong with beat intro before the powerful entry of melodic guitar and frontman, Michael Ian Cummings’ vocals. The bridge between chorus and verse is beautifully detailed and compromises for the flat-laid structure of the song. The firm percussion alongside the swaying guitar chords gives a punk edge to the pop quality tune. Trust me, it sounds cool.

Alongside the single, Skaters also released a peculiar video in which we follow a female protagonist as she strolls through Hull. Including betrayal portrayed by a rabbit, ballet moved and generally emotions expressed through physical gestures, the video can seem like some form of modern dance, or a way to act out some angsty feels, who knows.

Whatever is really going on it aligns with the lyrical aspect of the tune as Cummings’ sings: “You push all the feelings away. And then it hits”.

Lead Guitarist and founding member Josh Hubbard describes how the video came to be:

The ethos brought to this new project is similar to that of the DIY ethos… but it’s more inclusive, so we’ve coined it DIWOP2, which his short for ‘Do It With Other People Also’. We reached out on the internet to people and people got back. Conversations were had, relationships forged and collaborations were born…

This here video is the outcome from one of those ‘online’ conversations started on the internet. Hull transplant and very talented DP Josh Moore teamed up with us and took a walk down ‘Whitefriargate’ the UK City of Culture’s newly paved high street, real life, in a real city with real people… you can win them all.

Rock and Roll Bye Bye (not to be confused with the EP of the same name) is out on February 24th via Skaters own Yonks Records.
