RINA MUSHONGA Explores Peckham in New Video ‘Ata|antA’
Dutch-Zimbabwean songstress unveils new single Ata|antA.
Meet Rina Mushonga, a Dutch-Zimbabwean singer-songwriter and super talented multi-instrumentalis, and she has just given us Ata|antA. The track is influenced by the Greek mythological figure Atalanta who was quite the woman.
The song explores the nature of female empowerment and force. Exploring themes that everyone can relate to, self revolution and accepting, “I get up, I get up, when you walk away.” The track has an 80’s vibe especially when we hit the chorus. Her soothing voice is layered perfectly and shows true dynamic range in tone.
The clip released with the song was filmed completely in South London, in Peckham. It captures Mushonga in a series of nights out around the place. A relatable scene to many, it was filmed beautifully and enhances the moments in the song.
As we see the faces of people that keep that area together and the streets they walk on, is a visual post card, that embraces the spirit of the Peckham. The hidden beauty of the night on the streets and where they pour the pints are captured in an enticing way.
With no shows in the foreseeable future but with the release of her second album in Autumn, a follow up to her debut The Wild, The Wilderness, I’m sure they will flood in.
