It’s a ‘Green Light’ from LORDE

Lorde unveils first cut from anticipated sophomore album.

The indie goddess that seduced everyone with Pure Heroin in 2013 is finally back with album Melodrama, to be released sometime this year.

March the 2nd the first cut was released after much anticipation and mysteriously dropped hit, Green Light was uploaded to the new website Imwaitingforit, a line also sited in the lyrics of the song.

Green Light is an ode to city life and every aspect of it. From the melancholic shimmering of streetlights to the everlasting coolness associated with it. The eternal feeling of being disposal and the big city-loneliness is brilliantly juxtaposed with the sensational feeling of freedom – that you can do anything. With her idiosyncratic vocals and seductive tint, Lorde lures you in to this dazzling pop haze of a tune.

“I am so proud of this song. it’s very different, and kinda unexpected. it’s complex and funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you DANCE”, the singer herself tweeted.

The single is also accompanied by a video, directed by Grant Singer. The clip gorgeously emphasises the core of the tune. With pulsing, light drenched cinematography evoking clouds of colours and emotions, Lorde left the simplistic aesthetic from Pure Heroin behind.
