STARCRAWLER Unveil Raw Debut Single ‘Ants’

Ants to come out on Rough Trade Records later this week.

Bringing on influences from the rougher side of punk history, the LA quartet has made a track so ugly it’s kind of cool.

Starcrawler play over a dystopian layer of noise for their debut track Ants. Drawing on a restless nature, the tune doesn’t shy away from the more unrefined and raw details of the soundscape, but rather enhance them to become dominant features.

To further the energetic touch of the music, the visuals added to the track give a distinct but bizarre feel of reckless abandon and slight madness gloriously united. Filmed in a live setting, the video depicts the band’s very nature in a surprisingly weird portrayal.

Frontman Arrow de Wilde explains:

I went through a period of time in sophomore year where I was really angry and frustrated, I wanted to start a band so badly because the band I had with my friends (before Starcrawler) had fallen apart. So I started watching live videos of The Runaways and studying Cherie Currie’s moves as well as Iggy Pop and Kiss… I slowly started to create this character, this alter ego maniac.

Formed a year ago, the quartet recently signed with indie label, Rough Trade Records.

The single Ants is due May 12th, and it will be backed by B-side Used to Know.

The band will be playing their first shows in the UK this May in London and at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival.
