HIPPO CAMPUS Create Computer Simulation for ‘western kids’ Video
Minnesota four-piece uses 3D scanning for western kids video, created by PIXAR’s director Najeeb Tarazi.

Hippo Campus worked with prior Pixar Technical Director Najeeb Tarazi (Monsters University, Toy Story 3) for their latest video, breaking new ground by actually interacting with computer animation software as low-fi 3D scans.
Balancing on the verge of virtual and real, Hippo Campus present a creative idea for their infectious tune, western kids. Wrapped around upbeat sonics but with ironic twist, the track is a reflective take on modern society. Playing with the entire concept of technology, the band dives even deeper into the theme of the song.
Hippo Campus say of the video:
We met Najeeb through our label Transgressive and fell in love with his portfolio. His style of animation had this really raw vibe about it that felt really unique. It seemed perfect for us to convey the blurred lines of reality that “western kids” critiques in “age of excess”.
Hippo Campus‘ debut album landmark is available now on Transgressive Records.
The band is also set to return to Europe this Autumn and you can catch them at the following dates:
