JAPANESE BREAKFAST Unveils Hauntingly Hilarious Video for ‘Road Head’
Artist’s sophomore record Soft Sounds From Another Planet to be released this week.
Japanese Breakfast, the solo project of Michelle Zauner, has released visuals for new single Road Head and announced a full headlining U.S. tour. The poppy tune is the third cut off of her highly anticipated second album Soft Sounds From Another Planet which is set to be released this Friday.
Michelle’s vocals continue to play off of the strengths of her debut release Psychopomp by exploring the higher end of her range with ethereal grace. The electronic manipulation of her voice is a clear match for the simple guitar line and twinkling melodic elements of Road Head.
The video, directed by Zauner herself, details experiences with a monster that only she can see. The creature nods along with the infectious beat of the song, follows her to a convenience store, and drives around with her. The colourful lighting is uniquely beautiful and the shots of the unconventional pair are pure creative genius.
Japanese Breakfast explains:
For this one we wanted to focus on staging and an exaggerated color palette. We were inspired by ‘Fallen Angels’ and ‘Twin Peaks’.
Soft Sounds From Another Planet due out July 14th via Dead Oceans.
