Aussie musician is set to release her debut album, Reservoir, this summer.

Young Australian artist Gordi aka Sophie Payten is gearing up for her debut release Reservoir, due out in August. The Sydney singer released the second single On My Side accompanied by a visually captivating video.

The desperation in the lyrics are amplified by scenes of turmoil and distress as Gordi tries to revive a loved one. The shots are quick and tactile, with shots of water and dust as the main contrasting forces. The video serves as a connection to the forthcoming release and outlines Gordi’s emotions about the depending on someone. She explains:

I wrote ‘On My Side’ about being incapable of telling someone that I needed them, ‘sending my words silently’ through lyrics instead. I wanted the video to represent not only the message of this song, but the album in its entirety. This idea of guiding someone through your ‘reservoir’ – your innermost place. I don’t think you can tell someone how to get there, you have to take them to that place yourself.

Reservoir is set for release on August 25th via Jagjaguwar.

Gordi will perform at London’s Omeara on November 6th.
