10 Acts to See at Reading & Leeds Festival 2017
Kasabian, Eminem and Muse are set to headline this year’s Reading & Leeds Festival.

With only a few days away from our favourite bank holiday weekend, the anticipation for Reading and Leeds Festival is rocking sky high. This year we’ll witness some of UK festival exclusive performances, a lot of acts will mark their return and many will take to the festival sites for the very first time. Of course, having Muse, Kasabian and Eminem to top the line-up should be enough, but we’ve decided to choose 10 acts from across all eight stages that are really worth checking out.
Architects
(Leeds Friday 25th / Reading Sunday 27th)
Well, the Brighton’s metalcore outfit surely knows how to shake things up a bit. Taking to the Main Stage, Architects will showcase a varied and thrilling set as they possess an impressive number of seven studio albums in their repertoire. Their last year’s All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is a reflective compilation, plus 2017 marks one year anniversary since lead guitarist Tom Searle passed away. Get ready for an emotional and engaging experience.
Jimmy Eat World
(Leeds Saturday 26th / Reading Friday 25th)
Nine studio albums in almost 25 years should count for something, right? The American legends Jimmy Eat World are back with their pure catchy madness and trust me, moshing to The Middle is quite a view. Their last year’s full-length, Integrity Blues, is still making rounds across the globe and it looks like we’re gonna get a mix of fresh material with some old school nostalgic vibes.
Circa Waves
(Leeds Saturday 26th / Reading Friday 25th)
Circa Waves made a thunderous entrance shaking up the music scene with their debut album, Young Chasers, back in 2015. Their anthemic indie bangers, grounded on relatable themes, were the ones to soundtrack many lives reaching the minds of their generation. The hype was huge and the hype was real. After two years of touring and locking up in the recording studio, the Liverpool outfit returned with their sophomore offering, Different Creatures. Not only they haven’t lost their spark, but they’ve also transformed into an impressive live act. Go and see them.
POND
(Leeds Friday 25th / Reading Sunday 27th)
With seven studio albums in their catalogue and almost 10 years of experience as a band, POND still know how to move the audience going for set choices that sound as fresh as brand new. Their most recent record The Weather, released earlier this year, is a quintessence of psychedelic influences blended with punk and garage-rock elements. Their music may come across as demure at times but when you allow it to devour you completely, you will want to stay in their psych haze forever.
MARMOZETS
(Leeds Sunday 27th / Reading Saturday 26th)
Unanimously hailed for their electric live shows, female-fronted MARMOZETS have garnered legions of fans across the globe, and they have just returned with their first new music in three years. As they prepare the final touches for their eagerly anticipated second album, a follow-up to their 2014’s The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets, it seems like R&L will be a perfect place to spin some of that new material.
LANY
(Leeds Sunday 27th / Reading Saturday 26th)
The Nashville-via-NYC-via-LA trio has just released their self-titled debut album. With their danceable tunes and emotive aesthetics, the sun-soaked melodies they create are a perfect accompaniment to this summer soundtrack. Check them out if you’re in a mood for a little heartbreak and some hips swaying.
Neck Deep
(Leeds Friday 25th / Reading Sunday 27th)
In short, pure embodiment of all great things pop punk music conveys, with anthemic arena-worthy tunes and live shows that keep you on the edge. Neck Deep‘s third full-length The Peace And The Panic, has just arrived and there’s no better way to celebrate it than spinning some brand new tunes at this weekend’s festival. Bringing their vast array of punchy tunes to The Pit stage, it is certain they will showcase a little bit of both, the peace and definitely some of the panic.
Boston Manor
(Leeds Saturday 26th / Reading Friday 25th)
Boston Manor thrive in mastering the juxtaposition of the fast-paced and melodic, tinged with enraged and refined lyricism. With their last year’s breakthrough debut album, Be Nothing, and never-ending energy, the band simply delivers an exquisite performance. Make sure to arrive early as the tent will be entirely packed, no doubt about it.
Cigarettes After Sex
(Leeds Saturday 26th / Reading Friday 25th)
The American ambient pop musical collective led by Greg Gonzalez serve really chill and hypnotising tunes. The live experiences they deliver vary much from the band’s studio recordings. With recently released self-titled debut album, Cigarettes After Sex will clearly spread some of their atmospheric vibes, so get down to the Festival Republic Stage to catch them play.
ISLAND
(Leeds Sunday 27th / Reading Saturday 26th)
After extensive tours with Amber Run and Palace, the latter of which took them through Europe, and playing a sold out show at Scala last November, only followed by a bigger headliner at London’s Heaven, ISLAND continue the journey with their captivating performances. The London-based quartet has signed to Frenchkiss Records earlier this year, and with new music already in the works, there’s a big chance we’re gonna get a taste of what’s to come.
