BLAENAVON Unveil Visuals for ‘Prague ’99’
The Hampshire trio finally unveils visuals for one of their most eminent hits, Prague ’99 following the release of their EP of the same name.

Blaenavon have grown to become a familiar name in British indie, yet there’s undoubtedly a sense of dorkish outlandishness connected to the name, and their most recent video is no different.
Aligned with such a stunningly complex and heartfelt track, any visuals stand the chance of seeming either superfluous or unfairly beautiful. The later is certainly true for this one. With a dapper mix of surrealism and cliché, the video itself does little to compliment the track. Even though the filming is beautiful, a straight live video with just a hint of a twist isn’t enough for such a demanding track.
With its grand guitar work, stern percussion and mesmerising lyrics, Prague ’99 is close to perfection, and sadly the video does not quite live up to the task, even at its most twisted centre. Good intentions, yet the video is a bit all over the place to come across as anything more than a gender fluid mess with a great backtrack throwing a rose-tinted sense to it all.
