BRIAN FALLON Returns with New Single ‘Forget Me Not’
Brian Fallon has unveiled the first single, Forget Me Not, from his much-anticipated new solo album, Sleepwalkers, due out in February.
Since his venture into solo albums with 2015’s masterful Painkillers, Brian Fallon has gone from strength to strength, cementing him as one of the most versatile singers of the last decade. A far cry from The Gaslight Anthem’s juggernaut anthems and chugging riffs, Fallon’s solo approach showcases his crooning vocals without losing any of his original songwriting gusto.
The hotly anticipated Sleepwalkers is due to be released February 9th on Virgin EMI, and Fallon has released his first single from the album Forget Me Not.
Speaking of the origin of the song he said:
I was thinking how every song doesn’t have to be so serious. It can just be fun. It can just be a song that I would want to play live. ‘Forget Me Not’ came out in just a couple of minutes and actually ended up being pretty serious – it seems my subconscious had other plans.
As an artist with such a perfectly merged sense of classic rock’n’roll and contemporary rock, you wouldn’t go far wrong by dubbing him the 21stcentury’s answer to Lynard Skynard and The Who all at once; and that’s exactly what Forget Me Not encapsulates. Fallon’s trademark croon backed by upbeat 60s style riff and romanticised lyrics about love and death assure us that this is the comeback we’ve all been waiting for.
The new album was recorded earlier this year at New Orleans’ Parlor Recording Studio with producer Ted Hutt, the man behind The Gaslight Anthem’s original breakthrough ‘The ’59 Sound’ album, released all the way back in 2008 – I know, it makes me feel old too.
