JAWS Unveil Beautifully Honest Visuals for ’17’

The Birmingham outfit Jaws unbox a truly touching video about facing mental health issues for their single 17.

About a year ago Jaws released their intricate sophomore, Simplicity. Not only was the album a real step up from their debut, it was also stacked with hauntingly dark and simultaneously comforting lyrics. Delving into the troublesome space of a teenager, 17 dips into the aimlessness angst that can come with the age. The melodic composition echoes the torment of the lyrics with swooning slow progression.

Frontman Connor Schofield stated on Twitter that:

I’m not very good with words, or at least not very confident with them. I wrote this song a long time ago but its about my struggle with mental health and probably the most honest thing I’ve ever written musically. Anyway… here’s the new video for 17.

The video depicts the brutal honesty of living with mental health issues. The apathetic struggle in managing everyday tasks whilst stuck with destructive thoughts. It’s a brutally honest and important insight that only makes the song more capturing.
