WHENYOUNG Unveil Self-Directed Video for ‘The Collector’
Foot tapping delicateness and ethereal vocals make Ireland’s whenyoung a joy to behold.

Ahead of their upcoming tour with PEACE, whenyoung release the music video for their third single, The Collector.
Directed by lead singer and bassist Aoife Power, we follow the trio on a journey of pattern and repetition in their everyday lives; from waking up in the morning, a train journey to a coffee shop, then a book store before taking in the sights and returning home. It has a charming, candid home video quality to it, full of subtle beauty in the mundane and ordinary.
As Aoife explains:
The video for ‘The Collector’ documents the simple, everyday movements that everyone experiences. We are all carrying out the same routine to show that we are all connected in the universal tasks of daily life but still individually searching for a sense of place and belonging.
This philosophical angle to their music video really speaks for itself. So often the ordinary gets overlooked but to the deep thinkers there is beauty everywhere and humanity is all connected by it. The song itself is an easy listen, a gentle and joyful tune but there are layers and depth to it. Niall Burns on guitar leads us gently into the song, accompanying the early morning visuals on screen. Aoife’s precious vocals breeze in before culminating to the toe tapping beat of Andrew Floods drumming. The song perfectly climaxes with layered vocals, a confident beat until a minute pause releases the crescendo of guitars and then it all quietens down gradually, replicating the night time scenes in the video.
There is a lot going on beneath the surface of this track but every aspect is perfectly balanced and controlled and that can only mean that whenyoung are a band that have the talent to stick around for a long time to come.
The aspiring three piece already have opening slots for Declan McKenna and The Vaccines in the bag and it will surely be a matter of time before they are headlining their own tour!
