DAN OWEN Releases New Single ‘What Is A Man’
The song is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming debut album Stay Awake With Me, out in August.
August 17th 2018 is a date you need to put in your diary as it sees the release of the debut album Stay Awake With Me by Shropshire’s finest blues singer-songwriter Dan Owen.
Released via Atlantic Records, the latest single What Is A Man opens with invigorating brass instruments before Owen’s distinctive husky vocals kick in and stop you in your tracks. With similarities to George Ezra and Paolo Nutini, Owen has a voice so rich in feeling and depth it’s hard to believe he is only 25. The new song tackles the subject of living a life without heart, without passion. For “a man without a heart is just a story that never starts”. Owen suffered a serious accident before he embarked on a life of music, the accident seriously affected his vision and he found himself hiding away from the world. He has taken that early setback and focused all his efforts and all his passion into his music and his story is just starting.
The new single however feels somewhat overly produced compared to his earlier work so I urge you to listen to a stripped back acoustic version where his voice can be heard in all its glory. With support from the likes of Mick Fleetwood and Ellen DeGeneres, Dan Owen has let his music do all the talking and it’s safe to say the world has been listening.
You can catch Dan Owen live as he headlines his biggest show to date at London’s The Jazz Café on May 29th and if you’re at Wilderness Festival, he is playing the main stage on August 3rd.
